I’m pissed at myself for not starting this blog a long ass time ago.
Do you have any idea how many articles I have read on blog writing and SEO? Of course not. It feels like a million. In years past, I would read myself to a point of overwhelm and then, know where I’d apply that knowledge I had traded my precious time to acquire?
Nowhere.
Because I was so deep in the sea of overwhelm all I could do was flail about to keep my head above water.
Note: I am fond of analogies and reserve the right to use them more often than I change my undies. I’ll leave that to your ponderance.
The thing is, the writing part actually comes easy for me. I’ve been consistently writing posts on social media for over 5 years. In fact, I’ve posted something every single day on my personal Facebook since July 13, 2019 to be exact. I’ve gone above and beyond in proving I can commit to things.
(Hint: that has immensely helped my self belief)
I have also written and self published a book - that’s a story for another day but you can check it out here if you want.
I’ve written for a variety of publications including my most recent contributions to the Weekly Volcano in Tacoma, Washington.
So why not a blog?
Honestly, I started a couple times on previous websites I had. In my overwhelm, I didn’t have the clarity to really understand the value of sharing my words on a site that I own.
That lightbulb moment recently lit my head up and here we are.
I want to share with you the potential value of having a blog:
YOU OWN IT
I love sharing on social media but I know it could disappear in a heartbeat. Same with sharing your writing on other platforms. Your blog is like an email list.
It is something you can add value to, nurture and grow over time. And no one can take it away from you.
SHOWCASE YOUR AUTHORITY
This is a place where you can let your light shine. You get to show how knowledgeable you are. You get to show your talents, your gifts.
You teach people who you are and what you provide.
Over time, others will recognize your skills and believe you are the go to in your field of expertise.
MONETIZE YOUR ENTIRE LIFE
As a creative entrepreneur with a wildly imaginative mind, I am consistently bringing new ideas to fruition. This is a space where I can highlight my offerings as often as I want, showing the value of why my product may be exactly what you’re needing today. I can share links and photos here to bring you to my current artwork, program or coaching experience.
I can also become an affiliate of other brands and products which I use and recommend, sharing their value and story with you. When you purchase through my link, they pay me an agreed amount for my referral.
Imagine all the products you use in a day. You are probably telling your friends about things that make a positive difference in your life, yes?
Once you gain a significant audience for your useful shares by consistently posting to your blog (at least once per week) and being sure to deliver high value and entertaining content, you can develop relationships with companies that will pay you and give you freebies to share about their products on your blog. (Hint: imagine yourself as an influencer now even if you’re just getting started. You will get there quicker.)
SPEAK YOUR TRUTH
This is a place where you get the microphone.
No one gets to heckle or silence you.
You get to talk about what is important to you, share your knowledge, your stories, your beliefs
Another cool part of it is, you will attract the people who care. The ones that resonate with you. Your people.
GIVE FREELY TO YOUR AUDIENCE
While there are tons of people in our world with a credit card ready to purchase your incredible offer, it feels wonderful to give.
I believe the information I share in my daily posts and now here in my new blog, holds the potential to change lives for the better. Someone who doesn’t currently have the money to purchase my coaching, might receive a moment of clarity here or perhaps my story will ignite the flame deep inside you and this will be the day you decide to step into your power.
Today, I forgive my overwhelmed self of the past who didn’t see the value in committing to a blog and begin a journey that I know will bring light, joy and inspiration to many.
I claim my space in this world.
